About me :)
Hi, I’m Basil E. Bacorn — author, artist, entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed Creativity Specialist. I’ve spent over a decade exploring creative pursuits ranging from baking and writing to running businesses and nonprofits. While I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything, I wouldn’t call myself a jack of all trades — especially if the trade involves gymnastics, swimming, or walking in a straight line without bumping into something. I can’t fix your car or defend you in court, but I can bake a mean cake, write you a lovely short story, and share a totally random fact you didn’t ask for.
I started my college journey in Maine, where I earned my associate's degree in Business and Entrepreneurial Studies (and mastered the art of shoveling snow). I'm currently completing my bachelor’s in communications online through Drexel University, with plans to pursue a master’s in library and information science — and maybe even a PhD in information science down the line.
As a writer, I find inspiration in myths, fairy tales, and classic literature. I’ve published more than ten books, including Geek Gods, The Book of Random Thoughts, Mothman Goes to School, and the Dark’s Descent series. I love twisting familiar stories into something unexpected and packing my work with surprises.
In the art and design world, I’ve got a solid handle on Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva. I’ve also spent years drawing realistic colored pencil illustrations — The Sandwich is a personal favorite — but lately I’ve been diving into jewelry-making, wirework, beading, collage, assemblage, and fiber arts.
I’ve run several businesses over the years, including a bookstore, a publishing company, and more side ventures than I can count. In April 2025, I founded NEPA PULSE, a community development association dedicated to uplifting local businesses and nonprofits through partnerships and collaboration. I currently serve as NEPA PULSE’s Executive Director while continuing to work as a freelance writer and professional artist.
Want to connect, collaborate, or commission something unique? I’d love to hear from you!
